What is FitRec?

A.

FitRec stands for “Fitness and Recreation.” FitRec is more than just a mobile app. It’s a community of like-minded individuals, whose singular desire is to see one another reach each other’s health and fitness goals. Connecting in the app, we will keep you up to date on fitness/athletic events near you, and help you find the nearest “Restoration Centers,” when they come!
We want you to enjoy your fitness journey, by using our app. But we know that the success of creating real fitness communities is when you get folks you know on board as well. So, click that Share button in the top right corner and share the app with all your friends!

Where do I start?

A.

Once you download the app, you’ll create an account profile. We encourage you to use your real name, add a profile picture, and select as many activities and sports that you are interested in. Once you’ve selected those activities and sports, your main page will be populated with those activities and sports. In each one, you’ll find a people that are near you interested in the same activities and sports you are! This is how we connect folks in real community!

How do I connect with people in the app?

A.

There are several ways to connect. The first and easiest way to connect is to click on the “conversation bubble” in the activity or sport heading. You can quickly and easily type out your message to folks in that particular activity of sport. Select those you want to receive that message, by clicking on the “+” sign. Then, just click “send” and sit back and let the responses roll in!
In the menu, you can also use “Messages” to privately message your pals. Or, if you’re a part of a Group, you can send messages to folks in your group!

What are “pals”?

A.

In the FitRec app, “pals” is our way of saying your friends. By clicking on “My Pals” in the menu (or, clicking on the “Pals” icon in the navigation bar, you can use the “Requests” section to look for your friends by name. Adding them is as simple as clicking the add icon!
You can also add people as “pals” by clicking on their profile. In their profile, you simply click on the “+” icon and add them as one of your pals.

How do I join a group?

A.

One of the coolest features of the FitRec app is the ability to create your own Groups. Groups can be anything from your Run Group, your kickball team, or the folks that you walk with in your neighborhood. Groups can be public or private. By clicking “Near Me,” you can find all sorts of groups in and around you. You can join any public group by clicking on “join.” For private groups, you’ll have to send a request to the captain(s) of that group for their approval. Keep track of the groups that you’re in under “My Groups.”

How do I keep track of everything in the FitRec app?

We have conveniently grouped all of your notifications in the Notification tab in the menu. There, you’ll be able to see everything that’s happening with you, your groups, and teams! Click on the “bell” in the navigation bar to quickly get to all that information.

What’s the Journey?

A.

The Journey is FitRec’s way of encouraging one another. We encourage the FitRec fam to post up pictures of what’s happening day to day in their active and fit lifestyles. In some other social media platforms, you often get a curated collection of “your best life.” But we want to see our authentic selves in the Journey, so that we can spur each other on. You can post pictures, videos, tag friends, and even create short video stories! You can also easily post, by clicking on the “+” in the Navigation bar. So, get in there and start your fitness journey!

How do I know that FitRec is a safe place?

A.

Your safety is our highest priority. In that way, all of your data is stored securely and encrypted. We do not share your information with any third parties. Our app is free to use, and there are no ads sharing space in the app.
When it comes to our family, we make it convenient for you to see who’s been actively using the app. We do encourage that you use your real name and a profile picture, but we also recognize that some users might not honor the code of decency. So, we have also added a convenient way for you to report user abuse. At FitRec, we do not condone any kind of abuse, shaming, or violence. Use our convenient Reporting and Blocking features to send abusive users our way. We’ll take care of them quickly, as we want to cultivate a safe environment for people to pursue their health and fitness goals. Thank you, in advance, for making FitRec a safer place to be!
